Traffic from Worcester to Boston

Hello all,

Our 6ft9in basketball-playing son is hitting the recruiting trail the end of this month. We%26#39;ll be taking him to Holy Cross in Worcester on a Thursday early evening and then need to get him to Harvard by noonish the next day (a Friday).

We were thinking of staying Worcester (for convenience and then driving in to Cambridge the next morning. But will the traffic Friday from Worcester to Cambridge be horrific? Should we go ahead and drive in to Cambridge Thursday night and stay there overnight?

Thoughts appreciated,

Diane in TN

You would take the Mass Pike (interstate 90) into Cambridge. If you leave Worcester at 10 AM you should be at Harvard by noon, easily (it%26#39;s ostensibly a 1 hour trip). Traffic shouldn%26#39;t be that bad at that time.

If you don%26#39;t already own a GPS this wouldn%26#39;t be a bad time to get one. :-)

Hi Diane,

Like the previous poster mentioned, most of the trip is on the Mass Pike (90 East). Take exit 18 which will bring you into Cambridge. A good street map will take you to wherever it is on campus you need to go from there. Leave Worcester around 10 and you%26#39;ll have no problems making it to Harvard by 12. You%26#39;ll most likely be very early.

Ditto to the others, and your hotel bill will be much lower in Worcester. You didn%26#39;t say what your plans were for Friday PM, but you should get out of town before 3:00 PM, if possible.
