affordable place to stay?

Hi,

My fiance and I are planning a trip to Cape Cod at the end of August. We have never been there before and were hoping to find an affordable (under $200) place to stay, from which we could drive to other destinations. (we will have a car) If anyone could recommend an affordable town or area that would be great. Thanks so much!

Falmouth has a number of affordable hotels. Try the Green Harbor

The Tides Motel is right on the beach(very few hotels anymore on the beach). It is clean and has an old Cape Charm.

Also, a charming old wooden Inn across the street from the a beach and near the downtown shops is The Beach Breeze Inn. New owners have really made this place nice. There are a lot of weddings there.

There is lots to do there to. Look at the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce site for more info

In Falmouth you will have a cool Main Street with eclectic boutiques and trendy restaurants. You will near the ferry to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard and will want to take a day trip there.

Have Fun!

Hi Noelle, Falmouth is really nice and you have easy access to explore Woods Hole (maybe get there on the Shining Sea Bike path on rented bikes), Sandwich (don%26#39;t forget to walk out over marsh on the boardwalk from Factory Rd to the town beach) and Hyannis for night life (even the Cape Cod Melody Tent). You%26#39;ll be able to see Martha%26#39;s Vineyard and it%26#39;s just a quick ferry trip if you want to pop over there for the day.

An alternate, and very affordable by Cape standards, is Dennisport where we live/vacation. There%26#39;s accommodations that are beachfront for about what you want to pay. If a beachfront and Mid Cape location sound good to you then just look above and input Dennis Port in the forum box and you%26#39;ll get the posts with all the details and websites from which to read. You two will have lots of fun on the Cape no matter where you stay.

Our favorite is in Eastham on the Outer Cape, where the National Seashore begins. Ahhh, those big ocean beaches and sunsets over Cape cod Bay! Eastham is mid-way between Chatham and Provincetown with plenty of lodging options from motels to cottages to B+B%26#39;s and large hotel/inn.

www.easthamchamber.com will get you to the Chamber of Commerce site and boston.com/travel/… will give you the Boston Globe%26#39;s take on the beaches and the town.

If you are on a budget, keep in mind that room rates do not include the approximate 10% room tax. (So a rate of $200 will cost you about $220 +tip) We have found that staying in small (3 or fewer rooms) B+B%26#39;s with full breakfasts is a cost-effective way to get really nice accommodations with plenty of space to spread out. You might consider the Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast in the National Park on Fort Hill. They have at least one suite in your price range. www.forthillbedandbreakfast.com Another nice town is Wellfleet and you can check out the lodging at www.wellfleetchamber.com Take a look at Herring River B+B for a start. It just might work for you.

Eastham is just 2 minutes from great restaurants in Orleans and Wellfleet and we have found it the perfect base for exploring towns from Harwich to Provincetown. It%26#39;s is about 30 minutes to Hyannis if you want to spend some time in a more commercial place.

You may want to check out the following places:

Pleasant Bay Village in Chatham, which is a lovely town; and

The Cove in Orleans, wich is another great town.

Good luck.
