Sorry, but I can%26#39;t comment and have never even heard of this Resort in Hyannis. Since you have stayed on Cape Cod before, I assume you know that Hyannis is the most commercial town on the Cape. May I suggest that, if you really want to get a ';sense of place';, there are other, less commercial, areas within 30 minutes. My favorite area to stay and play is on the outer cape (From Orleans to Provincetown) where the National Seashore has protected much of the land yet there is lots to do and see in September.

If you plan to visit MV then you might also want to consider staying closer to Woodshole where the ferry ride to MV is easiest. Although Falmouth is busy, it doesn%26#39;t quite have the ';anywhere-USA'; feeling of Hyannis.

It%26#39;s safe to say that only the larger hotels (and there aren%26#39;t very many on the Cape) will list with a travel agent to fill their rooms during high season...and Sept. is still prime time on Cape Cod. If you want to get a feeling for smaller inns, B+Bs and motels/cottages take a look at some of the local chamber of commerce sites. Here%26#39;s are the two I have bookmarked but you should be able to Google any other town that interests you.

Good luck!

You%26#39;ve been here before..so without getting into it...you should be OK regarding ';things to do'; in late September....though definately many places will NOT be open, or will be within a week or so of closing. Luckily most things in Hyannis are open until mid October...except for some of the smaller shops. Bring a sweatshirt and enjoy your visit!

The property you are referring to is the Sheraton Resort and Conference Center. It is in HYannis and in walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants

Maybe you are staying there to attend a conference or you might not want to hire a car. If that is the case it is a good choice but if you are coming to be ';on the Cape'; then stay a but further down the cape or in Hyannis at a smaller property with a Cape Cod feel. (cant think of any at the moment)

I think if you are interested in staying in a place that is walkable and near the ferry to MV - Yellowbird was right Falmouth is a good choice too!!

September is still wonderful here - all shops, attractions and restaurants are still open and the weekends are booming. YOu can run into great late summer beach weather. Enjoy whereever you stay!!

Falmouth is an excellent alternative to Hyannis. It boasts 65 miles of beach front, many of which are public. There are trendy restaurants, eclectic boutiques and interesting historical homes surrounding the Village Green. Unlike Hyannis,, which is congested with cars, malls and chain stores, Falmouth has a unique New England feel that is hard to find now -a- days.

You can reach Martha%26#39;s Vineyard by taking the Steamship Authority ferries or the small and friendly Island Queen.

Either way, you will enjoy this town.

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice - going to look at alternative place to stay. We will have a car

Any suggestions for nice places to stay in Falmouth? I%26#39;m attending a conference in Hyannis, traveling with my family, and would like to spend sometime after the conference enjoying the Cape. (children aged 21 and 16), someplace nice with a beach. What would be your choice if you had friends/family coming to visit you? Thanks very much, all of your posts are so helpful!

Ther are not a lot of places to stay directly on the beach, however the Seacrest Resort is the biggest(do a search for the Seacrest on this site for more info about it). A very nice B%26amp;B is the ';Inn on the Sound';

It is across from Falmouth Heights beach which is very good.

there are some timeshares on the beach as well that rent by the week. Call the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce for setails.http://www.falmouthchamber.com/travel/accommodations.php

Thanks, mainstreetman! As I mentioned, we%26#39;ll be staying in Hyannis for a conference but will have a few days before and a few after to explore. Other than Falmouth, would you have any other suggestions for beach-front hotel/motels? Thanks again!

I%26#39;m not familiar with beach front hotels in other towns. They keep getting converted to timeshare and/or condos. Perhaps, others on this board would have a suggestion or two.

hi. formerlly it was a sheraton and was recently sold. is being completely renovated...will be done by may 2008 at which point should be a nice hotel. has a golf course; putting green; beautiful outdoor pull; is across the street from the melody tent ...concerts. we liked it as the sheraton but it was never renovated so every year it looked dumpier and dumpier. my friend who lives at the cape says that the hotel with renovations looks beautiful now.
