Fenway this weekend

I%26#39;ll be at Fenway this saturday with a 15yr old in tow. I%26#39;ve checked the forums and got some ideas. We plan to be there aroun 1pm for a 4pm game. Any great places to eat or see before the gates open for BB. GO SOX!

Fenway this weekend

I think there is some good food inside the park along Yawkey Way (Sausage and Peppers, Steak Sandwiches...). I would eat there. Also there are souvenir shops worth checking out in Yawkey Way.

Fenway this weekend

excellent. I%26#39;m going to get there early, but don%26#39;t want to miss a ';must see';. Will be my first time back since 1977!

most all of the players will already be inside getting ready, but you still have an hour to kill before they shut down yawkey way and start the craziness that is FENWAY. supposed to be an awesome day. enjoy... while you are outside the park milling around, grab the free hanouts being passed out, look for a little newspaper called the ';metro'; i believe( someone will correct me if I%26#39;m wrong) they put out a game day edition with red sox info and inside that paper is where you can find out who is in ';autograph alley'; that day.

thanks ski! I have heard about Yawkey Way being closed and only those with tickets for the game can get in, correct?

that is correct. if you are looking for autographs, get in line at the Brookline Ave end of Yawkey Way, (this is closer to Home plate and dugouts). don%26#39;t be afraid to ';run'; when you get in, this is what others will be doing and you get right up front this way.

to the right side of home plate (or the left side of sox dugout) is a good spot for BP. if its too crowded and people shoving, check out who is warming up down in right field area. pitchers (and outfielders who are through with BP).usually down there throwing and can score auto%26#39;s there also. good luck.

Yes, Yawkey Way closes for games. Ticket takers and bag checkers are there scanning your tickets prior to your actually entering the park.

If you want to eat somewhere before you go into the park/Yawkey Way, there are plenty of places right around the park -- Game On, Boston Beer Works, La Verdad (Mexican), Cask and Flagon....

Should be a good game. Sox are scheduled to win again.

While I agree that running is the best way to get the best spots for possible autographs, I feel it would ruin what is the best part of seeing Fenway for a first time visitor. The walk up the concourse as the park and beautiful green field comes into view. I still remember that day some 30 years ago. It%26#39;s a great feeling to stop and pause, look around and marvel at the old ballyard you%26#39;ve seen a million times before on TV. It%26#39;s priceless. If you%26#39;ve been to Fenway before, then run like it%26#39;s a ';running of the brides'; sale at Filenes Basement. But a first time visitor should really enjoy the first time experience since autographs aren%26#39;t guaranteed.

i%26#39;m thinking about the 15 year old kid..... getting up close front row hanging over talking to the players going in and out of the dugout. you can always walk around after to savor the moments and take pix all over.
