Mistral or Hamersley's Bistro for anniversary dinner??

Hubby and I will be celebrating our anniversary dinner next Thursday evening. We are both 50 years old. We live in MA but have never been to the South End - thinking of this area for somewhere different to dine.

We have narrowed our choices down to Mistral or Hamersley%26#39;s Bistro for our celebration. Which restaurant do you think would be more age appropriate and more intimate. Thanks.!!

Mistral is very fashionable, a place to see and be seen. Show up wearing expensive high style black clothing. Hammersley%26#39;s is probably more what you want in my opinion. Neither place is what you would call intimate but Hammersley%26#39;s is the more relaxed place and the food is outstanding. Also Hammersley%26#39;s is in a very nice area to walk around. Mistral is in a bleak block of Columbus Ave., next to the Mass Pike underpass.

Chic is Mistral and the restaurant, for all the chefs they go through, always gets great reviews in Zagat.

But, it%26#39;s summer at Hammersley%26#39;s.

And you can sit outside with candles and white table clothes and eat absolutely some of the best food ever.

There chicken, believe it or not, is the best I have ever had.

So, tell them , because they are sweet and nice and theater people---that it%26#39;s your anniversary, and , let%26#39;s hope it%26#39;s a nice night, cause sitting outside and eating Gordon Hammersley%26#39;s creations are still exquisite. He was one of the first to carve out a place for food in Boston when we were a wasteland of nothingness.

Hope this helps.

Hamersley%26#39;s, without a doubt.

The atmosphere is a little more funky and has great windows that look out onto Tremont Street. It does have some intimate spots but it isn%26#39;t dark and all pretentious.

Thank you everyone! I will call today to make a reservation at Hamersley%26#39;s.
