Staying at InterContinental ~ Area info, taxi, restaurants..

Hi there, We are staying at the InterContinental because of the great deal we got on Hotwire. We are doing orientation at BU and I know it is not close. I also know it is not on the green line and it would take a long time to get there by train. Any idea of taxi cost?

Also, looking for a breakfast place in walking distance of hotel and a great restaurant in the North End (also, what would be the easiest way to get there?

Safety and area information around InterContinental... Is it OK to walk at night, etc.

And one last thing... Easiest way to get to Havard Square and any suggestions for must sees.

Any other advice for first time Boston visitors would be appreciated. We are leaving in a few days.

Thanks

Just step out the front door, cross the street and you are on The Rose Kennedy Greenway. Take a right and it is a nice walk to the North End, Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market or the Aquarium area. Another alternative take a right from the front door of the hotel towards the now burnt James Hook lobster, cross the street, walk behind the Boston Harbor Hotel and stay on the Harborwalk. This will also take you to the Aquarium and North End. You can take the New England Aquarium Blue Line to Government Center to change to go on the Green Line ';B'; Train to BU.

To go to Harvard Square take a left and go to South Station. Take the Red line to Harvard Square.

(I just walked the Rose Kennedy Greenway, yesterday, and the smell of burnt lobster is still in the air.)If you take a left from the hotel walk towards Chinatown. You will see red pillars, it a nice quiet park with a waterfall. Enjoy! The Intercontinental is in a safe area. Less people in the area than there would be in other tourist parts, but it still is safe and a nice area.

Taking a taxi from the Intercontinental to BU should take about 10 minutes and roughly cost $15.00 if you do not have any traffic problems or delays.

Remay has said it all very well. I can add about breakfast. During the week, there are a couple of places on Broad Street that serve full breakfast (right onto Atlantic and cross after the archway of Rowes Wharf). You%26#39;ll also see Rudi%26#39;s Cafe at Rowes Wharf and Panera Bread across the street if you%26#39;re not seeking somehat less than a ';full'; egg breakfast.

You can walk out the back of the hotel and cross the cannel.

Flour Bakery and Cafe is in back of The Children%26#39;s Museum. 12 Farnsworth. Open for breakfast

Just returned from a short stay at the Intercontinental with my teenage niece - felt perfectly safe at night (although we weren%26#39;t out late)walking back from Quincy Market/North End. Also had breakfast twice at Rudi%26#39;s, as it was so close. Also, hotel concierge can arrange water taxi from hotel to airport for $10 a person. Otherwise take the Silver Line, which goes between the airport and South Station, only a couple of blocks away.
