parking near t, late weekday morning

I am coming to Boston from the north (Rt 93) for a 1pm Red Sox game on a Wednesday. I would rather take the T into town but I am worried about the lots being filled in that late. Is there a lot where I can be sure to get a spot, or should I take the bus from Concord, NH?

Most T stations are filled early with commuters. The logical choice if parking was available is to take the Orange Line to Green (since you are coming from Rt 93). Oak Grove, end of the Orange line, I know is pretty full by 7 - 7:30 AM. There is some parking around the T station on private streets but many have signs warning residents only.

I have a suggestion if you really don%26#39;t want to drive in. I would only suggest this because you have an early game. You could take one of the MBTA buses from either Burlington or Woburn into Boston.

Bus 350 Burlington Mall to Alewife Station (Red Line)The Burlington Mall will have plenty of free parking.

Here%26#39;s the inbound times:

This route looks promising also:

Bus 354 Woburn Express to State Street Station.

I am not familiar with Bus 354 but Bus 350 I%26#39;ve taken a few times.

The 350 bus will take FOREVER. Rather than park all the way out at the mall, I%26#39;d suggest stopping at Anderson in Woburn, which is right off I-93, and taking the commuter rail in. But that would depend on the train schedule. Check out www.mbta.com

Although not convenient to Rte 93, Wonderland (end of the blue line) rarely run out of space cuz the dogtrack takes the overflow.

After the game you can head to Kelly%26#39;s on Revere Beach for dinner.

I also would not park at any mall and just leave the car. Things vary, but some places do tow. The Burlington Mall probably wouldn%26#39;t (The stores near the Braintree T say they do), but it%26#39;s a big chance to take. I%26#39;d try Wonderland and if that fails, you can park at UMass Boston, which doesn%26#39;t fill up during summer. It%26#39;s 6-/day and has a free T shuttle bus. The bus will take about 10 mins between waiting/riding and then the train in will be another 26 or so minutes to fenway. It%26#39;s about 17-23 minutes downtown from JFK Umass. .

...of course, UMass Boston is beyond the city. That%26#39;s only if you don%26#39;t want to pay downtown prices for parking. Obviously it%26#39;s most easy to just drive in if Wonderland is full.

Thanks for all of the responses. When I look at all the possibilities, I think the best thing is to take a bus from Concord, NH ($27 round trip) to South Station and then take the subway. It will be more expensive, but with gas what it is, not by much. Plus, the game will end around rush hour and I have been out of such practice for a while because I live in norther Vermont.

Wantmoretravel sounds like the best solution from a time point of view and cost and hassle factor of driving during rush hour.

So I definitely want to check out parking at Wonderland sometime as it seems like one of the few subways you can get parking at during the week. It is good to have this as an option.

Just an FYI for the 350 bus: I%26#39;ve not had a problem leaving my car at the Burlington Mall for a few hours while going into town using it. I wouldn%26#39;t suggest leaving it overnight or for 12 hours or something egregious like that. And I do see that Braintree Mall would probably tow being so close to a subway station would be too much temptation for people to take over their lots and avoid the fee at the station. But for the 350 bus there aren%26#39;t that many people that take it to impact the parking at the Burlington Mall.

You might consider exiting I93 at the Route 16 exit in Medford and head east to Wellington Circle and park in the garage at Station Landing which is connected by a walkway to the Orange Line Station. There is also a Kelly%26#39;s Roast Beef and Regina%26#39;s Pizza at that location.

Spike -- so the Station Landing garage is a private garage (non-MBTA)? It doesn%26#39;t fill up? If this is so that is great to know.

The garage is part of deal between the developer and the MBTA and the several times I have used it during the day I have not had a problem. They are currently expanding the garage to add more spaces.
