Provincetown to Boston Day Trip

Although we have been going to the Cape for almost 40 years we have never visited Boston. We have been to Salem and Concord but never actually into the City of Boston. We are thinking of taking the ferry from Provincetown for the day when we are on the Cape in September. We will have approximately 6 hours there and would appreciate any suggestions on how to make the best use of the time. We are not particulary interested in doing any serious shopping but will need to stop for some lunch or snacks at some point.

I would suggest a duck tour or a trolley tour to give you and overall view of the city, a trip to the North End for a bite to eat and then stop by one or two points of interest that caught your attention on the tour.

Happy Planning!!

Provincetown to Boston Day Trip

Hello! Boston is definitely worth a visit. The Duck tours are fun - they are about 90 minutes and depart from the Prudential Center and from the Museum Of Science.

The Trolley tours may be a good option for you though - they are hop on and hop off which means that you would get a very good tours of the city, and you get get off anywhere you want, look around, go for lunch, etc, and then just get on again. So it%26#39;s a good way of getting around.

I have listed a number of the tours here so you can get an overview:

North End is a great area and you will have a great lunch there.

Another option is Faneuil Hall; there are LOTS of places to eat there, both upscale and very casual. Also several places to sit outside and eat. Great people watching, historical, and there are often street performers. It is close to the water as well (and close to where the Trolley tours begin).

No visit to Boston would be complete without a walk around Beacon Hill. The Trolley stop there too. Walk down Charles Street, go up Pinckney Street, up to Louisburg Square, then over to Acorn street which is very cute and apparently the most photographed street in America. Then down to Charles Street again. Walk down to the Public Garden to see the Swan boats and the duckling statues. The public garden is very pretty. A nice little break!

Enjoy your visit! September should be a great time!

Thank you both for the suggestions. Very helpful.
