South Bay Center

Trying to find some info on this place. Does it have lots of shops like a mall or is it just a few big shops like Home Depot? How much would a cab cost to here from downtown? Cheers!

South Bay Center

You can get there easily via the Red Line. Get off at Andrew Station and it%26#39;s over the expressway bridge. They run a shuttle.

It%26#39;s not anyplace I%26#39;d rave about. It%26#39;s not an enclosed mall. There%26#39;s a Target, Home Depot, OldNavy, Marshall%26#39;s, BestBuy, Famous Footwear, Super88 (Asian market-still there?), Applebees (food)? TA experts, help me out...what else is there? Stop and Shop...there%26#39;s a tiny satellite Boston Police office there.

The neighborhood is urban/industrial, right off the x-way. It%26#39;s not a tourist hotspot by any stretch. I wouldn%26#39;t really bother. It%26#39;s all chain stores. Nothing unique. Not particularly nice.

South Bay Center

CoCoSanday,

I think you described it aptly. Puddey, what are you looking for

specifically? Perhaps we can help you locate it somewhere else.

Hi Puddey,

Unless you are specifically looking to shop at Target, every other store in South Bay can be found at the Cambridgeside Galleria, which is a much nicer, enclosed mall. It%26#39;s 5 minutes walk from the Lechmere stop on the Green Line.

Hi there it is actually Target and Bed Bath %26amp; Beyond that we want to visit. We went to the galleria last year and will be going again. Its the old no one wants to drive in the usa thing im afraid How much in a cab do you think? Cheers!

Bed and Beth is also located in the Landmark Center or in the Galleria. I wouldn%26#39;t recommend going to South bay center just for Target, but if you must, my guess is that the cab fare is probably around $15, depending on where you are staying. The problem is that I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll find another taxi there to return you to Downtown. That wouldn%26#39;t be too good, eh? If you did this, make the return plan time for pick up with that same taxi company when you come.

Where is the landmark centre?

Landmark Center is at the Fenway stop on the D branch of the Green Line.

If you are interested in going to Target, South Bay is a fine choice... I%26#39;m not sure where you are staying, but it%26#39;s a quick and easy ride from downtown. Other posters have it right when they say not to go out of your way to go there, but if you%26#39;re wanting to go to Target specifically, it%26#39;s not difficult and it%26#39;s a relatively large store. I go to South Bay all the time just to go to Target!

I go to South Bay all the time just to go to Target too, but...it%26#39;s ordinary mundane shopping. When I%26#39;m on vacation, Target is a destination only if we%26#39;ve forgotten to pack some sort of necessity.

South Bay is very close to the Andrew T stop. You can find a free shuttle there.

From downtown, it%26#39;s probably $15-20, depending on where you catch the cab. It%26#39;s in the type of neighborhood that has gypsy cabs (guys might approach you and say, ';Do you need a cab?'; --that has happened to me there, though not always.) I%26#39;ve never taken anyone up on such offers. There may be a cab phone there or you can take the number of the cab that drops you off.

I understand the allure of Target for those who don%26#39;t have one close at hand. Before Target established any stores in the East, I would shop at Target when visiting my parents in Ohio and ship my purchases back to NY :-)

There is also a Target at Suffolk Downs in East Boston now. It%26#39;s walkable from the Beachmont T station and cabs can be gotten. Plus, depending in the day, you can take in live racing!
