Best time to travel to Boston

We are planning a trip to Boston as our vacation. When is the best time of the year? We are in Florida and would love to get some cool weather - but someone says fall is expensive. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Sharon

Best time to travel to Boston

Hi, Fall definitely is the best time.... September/October is my favorite time here. The weather is usually great, not as hot and humid as the summer months. You get nice days and cool nights, it%26#39;s beautiful! The most popular time, and therefore the most expensive probably, is when the leaves are changing. If you don%26#39;t care so much about that, then try to go a little later. The weather is ';usually'; nice through October. (Weather in Boston changes very quickly).

It depends a bit on what you want to do as well. Do you plan to stay in Boston, drive around, inside activities or outside activities? Let us know and I am sure you will get plenty of advice!

New England%26#39;s weather is extremely unpredictable. April and May are nice times of the year but this year it was cold and rainy. The third Monday in April, is Patriot%26#39;s Day or Marathon Monday. It is a popular time to be in Boston. May and early June is popular because of school graduations. June is nice but we are now in the midst of a heat-wave. In July and August it can be very hot, hazy and humid but other days you will need a jacket. September and October are nice the and most popular time to visit do to the foliage, occasional ';Indian Summer'; and the students returning back to the many colleges. December is pretty because of the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. It can be pretty in January and February after a fresh coat of snow but much too cold even for natives, most of the outside tourists attractions are closed. November is raw and ugly and March is no better. The tourist season tends to run between mid April to the end of October. Hope this helps.

Walking, sightseeing, touristy stuff is what we plan to do. Outdoors, alot - I hope. October sounds great. Is fall season considerably more expensive?

Thanks for the input.

Sharon

May, June, September, and October.

Fall hotel rooms do tend to be more expensive --- conventions are back, colleges are back in session (visiting parents, etc.) and the leafpeepers arrive. October is busier and more expensive than either September or November.
