Boston to the Cape - Sat AM in August

OK - my wife wants to spend Friday night in Boston; If we leave by 7:00 - 8:00AM, how will we do in traffic? We%26#39;re going to Eastham.

It will be a hellishly slow drive at that hour on Saturday morning.

That said, Friday night would be worse.

I head south to Weymouth early on the weekends. The trafic really starts to get bad by 8:00 a.m. on nice days during the summer.

I would leave Boston no later than 6:30 a.m. There is a section before Hingham where the road drops from three lanes to two. You really want to be past this area no later than 7:00 a.m.

How bad will the traffic be around 10PM Fri night? Leave after the Red Sox game.

You will be fine. Even the road work usally runs from Sunday to Thursday.

I%26#39;m with your wife, stay in Boston, or better yet, just south of Boston. I drive to the Truro on Saturday in August and really, it%26#39;s not all that bad. Most hotel rooms and cottages aren%26#39;t available until after noon time, so if you leave before 8, you%26#39;ll be fine. I%26#39;m not saying you won%26#39;t have ';company';, but you won%26#39;t sit in an 8 mile backup unless there%26#39;s an accident.

With the demise of the rotary at the foot of the Sagamore bridge, it%26#39;s easier to get on-cape. (Suprisingly, I see no difference in LEAVING the cape....)
