Need guide/driver for 10-12 people from Cruise ship...

Hello. We will be a group of 10-12 people cruising to New England this fall and stopping in Boston. Rather than do the typical cruise excursion, we were thinking we could arrange our own driver/guide to cover some of those same places. Would welcome any recommendations of any top-notch tour companies. Thank you!

How long is your stop here in Boston? What day of the week will you be here?

We will only be in Boston from around 10am - 7pm. We will be there on a Tuesday.

One option to consider is walking (10-15 minutes)or a water taxi to the Seaport Hotel from the Black Falcon Pier and purchasing tickets for the Beantown Trolley. The trolley will take you all over Boston and parts of Cambridge as well. You can hop on/off as many times as you like. It would be much cheaper than hiring a personal guide. Tickets for the trolley tour can be purchased at Fastachi in the Seaport Hotel. Cost is about $30 per person. Trolley runs from 9-4:30 daily and includes a free harbor cruise from Long Wharf or the USS Constitution.

I vaguely remember somebody posting about this a while back and they were VERY disappointed w/ the outcome.

I agree w/ Will, book the trolley tour, and water shuttle or water taxi (or even automobile-taxi) over to the pickup point at Long Wharf. Also, with that many people, you might consider contacting the trolley company for a private charter. I know you can rent a vehicle and driver for special events. I would imagine most of the drivers know the historical speil ... I don%26#39;t now if they%26#39;d do 5=6 hour rentl mid day or not, but it can%26#39;t hurt to ask.

The biggest problem with not booking the excursion through the cruiseline is that if you%26#39;re running late (and with Boston traffic that is ALWAYS a possibility), the cruise ship will NOT wait for you and you could end up stranded in Boston.

But if you book through the cruiseline and your tour runs late, the ship will wait for you to return.

You%26#39;re better off either mapping out a walking tour of the city (it is one of the most walkable cities in the world), taking the Beantown Trolley and/or the Duck Tour, or taking one of the tour options offered from the cruiseline.
