Non-touristy Boston

Well my trip is closing in, about a week away. I sometimes post on my local board and give suggestions for touristy things that you need to see if you%26#39;re coming here once. I%26#39;ve got a lot of that in my itinerary, but was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions for local favorite restaurants/bars/areas to visit that are off the beaten path a bit. Thanks for all your help and I can%26#39;t wait to be there!

Non-touristy Boston

Do you have any kind of food and/or budget in mind? What kind of bars do you tend to favor in Nashville?

Non-touristy Boston

Davis Square, Somerville. A short subway ride on the Red Line (heading towards Alewife Station) to a very cool little neighborhood chock full of great restaurants and bars. My favorite? The Burren. It%26#39;s an authentic Irish bar with great food and live music most nights. Visit www.mbta.com for all public transportation info.

Another cool neighborhood worth the trip is Coolidge Corner in Brookline. Lots of ethnic foods and cool shops. The Coolidge Corner Clubhouse is a great place for a micro brew.

Green Line ';C'; train to Coolidge Corner.

Inman Square, Cambridge. Take the Red Line to Central Square, about a 15 minute stroll from there. Or, take the Red Line to Harvard Square, and there is a bus that will take you to Inman Square.

In Inman Square, Cambridge:

East Coast Grill: my favorite seafood place in Boston area, also has great BBQ and grilled items and drinks.

Bukowski%26#39;s: great beer bar

Druid: Irish-type pub, better food than the Burren

Ole: one of the top Mexican places in the Boston area (not saying much, but still). Great margaritas.

Christinas: best ice cream in Boston area.

A couple other places, too. Zero tourists go here. (Well, a few in-the-know tourists go to East Coast Grill.)

Excellent suggestion except I%26#39;d swap the B-Side Lounge for Bukowskis. I really want to like that place, but I really just kind of hate it. I can%26#39;t decide if it%26#39;s the terrible accoustics and crappy music played too loud or the indifferent servers that I dislike more.

A properly made cocktail at the B-Side, however, is a fine way to cap off a night. Or while away a Sunday afternoon.
