Weather Watch

Hey Y%26#39;all! Since our trip to Boston is only a WEEK out, I need to start looking @ a weather forecast so I know how to pack. We are already wearing shorts and sandals here, but my friend told me that she saw that it was 60 degrees today in Boston. Anyway, is there a website for a local station I could check out?

Thanks!

Weather Watch

www.weather.com will get you weather anywhere. www.whdh.com is one of the local tv stations.

Today you could NOT wear shorts and sandals! Chilly. You%26#39;ll want to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt however warm it gets b/c it can get chilly/breezy at night and by the coast. The weaather here is VERY changeable. To be safe, I%26#39;d pack a mix of items including shorts as well as pants and a sweatshirt or light jacket.

Pack everything but the wedding dress teacher!

Well I saw lots of kids in shorts going to school today, and I think it actually made it into the 70s ;)

WWW.WBZ1030.com is good.

weather underground: wunderground.com is also good. It asks for a zip code. Boston zips start w/ 021 (02129) will work.

There may have been kids in shorts, but yesterday I was outside working on the waterfront (where tourists like to go) and people were reaching for their sweaters! Sorry...no shorts where I was!

Right now the wetaher is pretty mixed. We are, FINALLY, getting some sunny days with temps in the high 60%26#39;s to mid 70%26#39;s. However, Downtown Boston has some pretty windy areas which make it feel cooler. The waterfront is always a bit cooler than inland and the Downtoan area has ';wind tunnels'; cretaed by tall buildings and narrow streets in some places. We also are getting a lot of rain which is normal for late May.

The latest forecast I%26#39;ve heard for the upcoming week is heavy rain showers over the weekend, clearing up by Monday with warm sunny weather through much of next week. 70%26#39;s to low 80%26#39;s. After that, who knows. Plan on warm weather clothes but also be prepared for temperture drops in the evening when you may need a sweater, light jacket or sweatshirt

Check the weather forecast 3 or so days before you leave. They are really not that reliable around here much before that. One TV station to check is http://www.thebostonchannel.com. The local stations are definitely more reliable than the big national sites like weather.com

Harvard Commencement this year is next Thursday, June 5th. It (almost) never rains on Harvard Commencement. I remember it did a few years ago (seems like yesterday but I don%26#39;t know if it was 2 or 22 years ago), and it was a really big deal. Googling ';harvard commencement rain'; turns up a New York Times article from 1904, so in the past 104 years, it appears to have rained twice on the day of Harvard Commencement.

Knock on wood...

Thanks everyone for all your help. I will plan on packing a variety, but will also check the forecast next week before we go. As long as it%26#39;s not raining I can deal with a little ';breezy'; weather! :D

Hey ';Teachah';

I think the Texas weather will be traveling with you this week. Today it is 80, and the weekend will be just as hot here in New England.
