PTown ferry questions

Iam arriving at Logan and have bought tickets on Bay State Cruises (World Trade Center) fast ferry to PTown on the same day and return tickets from Boston Harbor Cruises (Long Wharf). I%26#39;m a virgin to the process and my questions aren%26#39;t answered on their websites or (annoyingly) by phone, which has gone repeatedly to voicemail.

So, now that I%26#39;ve committed, what can I expect? Here are a few of my questions-

(1). What is the best way to get to the Trade Center from Logan?

(2). I%26#39;ll have a 4 hour ';layover'; after flight but before the ferry departs. Any thoughts on how to kill that time? Is there luggage storage at the Trade Center?

(3) How do I get my tickets from will call, and do they check luggage as you would on a plane?

(4). How much time should I safely allow for getting tickets, checking luggage and boarding before departure?

(5). Will there be a taxi stand at the PTown ferry?

(6). Do the same questions/answers apply equally on the return trip?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks, folks.

PTown ferry questions

I%26#39;ve never taken the ferry but just read a review from someone who has, so I%26#39;ll try my best to answer your questions.

You can take a cab or The Silver Line Bus from Logan to the pier. The Silver Line will drop you off across the street from Bay State%26#39;s dock.

Supposedly they have dockside luggage storage.

You hand the printout with your confirmation number to the ticket office at the dock to recieve your tickets. Do you have that printout when you booked online?

From what I read, this person approached the ticket office later, 15 minutes before departure and still made the boat, so security can%26#39;t be too bad.

No taxi stand at the pier in P-town because Macmillan pier is right there at Commercial Street to start exploring the town. You can call a cab if you need to go somewhere. There is an area for the buses there for those who aren%26#39;t staying in P-town.

For Boston Harbor Cruises on the return trip, I assume they have a ticket office right at Macmillan Pier since they also use that pier as well. I%26#39;m sure someone can direct you to their ticket office in P-town if you don%26#39;t see it when you get there. Once again, you%26#39;ll need that printout, so don%26#39;t lose it.

What to do for 4 hours, I don%26#39;t know. I guess you could head down to the pier, store your luggage, get your ticket, and then take a cab over to Fanueil Hall and hang out? See how much time you%26#39;ll really have when you arrive. Your plane may be late.

PTown ferry questions

I can answer some of your questions, but for the rest you%26#39;ll have to call Boston Harbor Cruises.

From Logan, you can either take the Water Taxi (my recommendation) or the T Silver line. To get to the Water Taxi, take the complimentary bus from the Terminal marked Water Transport to the Dock. The taxi will either be there or there is a phone to call him if he is on the Boston side. Cost is $10 a person.

I don%26#39;t know about luggage storage or will call.

Boarding and luggage handling is very fast - just minutes. There will be taxis where you depart from the PTown Ferry. Ditto from Long Wharf when you return.

I can answer a few of the questions:

3) How do I get my tickets from will call, and do they check luggage as you would on a plane?

There is a ticket booth right on the pier where the boat is docked. That%26#39;s where tickets are piceked up.

(4). How much time should I safely allow for getting tickets, checking luggage and boarding before departure?

They usually start boarding a half hour before departure. Picking up tickets shouldn%26#39;t take more than a couple of minutes. they don%26#39;t do a luggage check in. Once the boat starts boarding, you simply board with your luggage and either keep it with you or place it in one of the designated luggage areas....depending on how much you%26#39;re carrying. If you going on a weekend when the ferry is likely to be crowded, get there about 40 minutes prior to boarding in order to get a good seat. If it%26#39;s a nice, warm day, the upper deck outside will give you great views of Boston, the Harbor Islands and Ptown (but it gets pretty windy). On a cold, rainy day, you%26#39;ll want to grab a seat inside on the lower deck which is enclosed

(5). Will there be a taxi stand at the PTown ferry?

There is no taxi stand but taxis do come down to the pier at the times that boats are scheduled to arrive. Depending on where you are heading and how much you%26#39;re carrying, you may be better off walking. Traffic is slow due to the very narrow streets and lots of pedestrians. Walking can often be faster.

Hi, My turn although some of the questions have been answered pretty well already.

1) Either the Silver Line ($2) to World Trade Ctr Sta, about a block from the dock, or the water taxi (free shuttle bus in Logan to dock) will work. If the weather is good, the water taxi would be nicer but you%26#39;ll be on the water on the ferry anyway.

2) Bay State Cruises has an office at the WTC pier and may take your luggage as a favor but there is no official storage facility. Unfortunately the location is pretty out of the way but see some of the other replies for possibilities during the layover.

3) Just walk up to the ticket window and ask for your tickets. There is no checked luggage. Take it with you.

4) Someone mentioned getting there early to get a good seat if the ferry is crowded, but otherwise you can get there almost up to departure time. If you%26#39;re at the ticket window, they won%26#39;t leave without you but no more than 15 min. or so early is necessary.

5) No taxi stand, but if you really need a taxi ask at the refreshment counter on the ferry. They may be able to call ahead and have a cab waiting. Cabs sometimes meet the ferry too.

6) On the way back, it%26#39;s pretty much the same. The Boston Harbor Cruises ferry leaves Ptown near where the other ferry arrived, by the Whydah Museum on Macmillan Wharf. Get there 15 min. or so ahead of time. This a big boat and is rarely overcrowded. BHC has an onboard concierge service which can probably call you a Boston taxi or advise you on other transportation options.

Have a good trip and enjoy Provincetown. It%26#39;s a great place.

You all rock. Just want you to know that it is appreciated. Thanks for the info!
