Even though the Red Sox are out of town, I%26#39;d still recommend going over to Fenway and taking a tour. They%26#39;re fun and informative. Go to www.bostonredsox.com

You could visit the Boston Harbor Islands. Stay as long as you like at any island, bring a picnic, see as many as you like. They provide a unique view of the city. www.bostonharborislands.org

Visit a museum. The MFA and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum are very good. www.mfa.org

Walk through Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market. Lots to do and see.

there is a lot to see and do in the Boston area.

some of the top, must-see attractions in my mind are:

- the Gardner Museum. I don%26#39;t particularly recommend the Museum of Fine Arts, especially to Europeans, but the Gardner is a really interesting environment for anyone, regardless of one%26#39;s interest in art.

- the Aquarium. still an amazing building.

- the North End. italian section of town. if the owner is released on bail the ';Fresh Cheese Shop'; will be the biggest tourist draw in the entire city.

- Harvard Square (in Cambridge).

- Fenway Park tour

- the Constitution

- battle road from lexington to the North Bridge in Concord

I mentioned this in a different thread yesterday, but I%26#39;d suggest getting out on the water. You can take a water shuttle to the inner harbor islands. Depending on your interests, you could check out Georges (old fort), Peddocks (crumbling military installation, lots of walking trails), castle island, and others.

You can also take the downeaster train to Maine, ferries to Salem and Provincetown, dinner harbor cruises...if you want to see more of the countryside or mountains (western MA, New Hampshire, northern Maine, Vermont), you%26#39;ll need to either book a tour or rent a car.

I would like to suggest going to Newport, Rhode Island. Not only is it a great town right on the water with lots of restaurants and shops but you can also visit the mansions where the Astors, Vanderbilt and other famous Americans had their summer ';cottages'; (and some of them are more like castles). It麓s about 1 1/2 hours south of Boston. Best is if you can drive yourselves. There are probably buses you can take as well.

There are many nice seaside towns within driving distance from Boston; Rockport is one of my favorites.

I have my favorite day trips here (where you can probably also find some other fun things to do, check out the sightseeing page; I highly recommend the North End Market tour):

You can take a tour of Fenway even if you can麓t see the Red Sox play. You will find information on the sightseeing page in the above link!

Have fun!
